Home/Wailoaloa Beach
A quiet seaside corner of Nadi, fifteen minutes from the airport and a minute from our front gate.
Wailoaloa Beach sits on the western edge of Nadi, a few minutes off the main road and away from the traffic. It is a quaint seaside community of houses, boutique guest-houses and a handful of well-known backpacker resorts, with a long flat beach in front of it, the Sabeto mountains behind, and the islands of the Mamanuca group out across the water.
It is a residential place first. People who live here walk to the beach in the evening, run on the sand in the morning, and know the neighbours. That is the main reason our tenants stay for years rather than months — the flights out of Nadi are fifteen minutes away, but the street itself is quiet.
Nadi Beach Apartments is at 6 Wasawasa Road, with five properties between the gate and the shoreline — two of them now small resorts. The walk to the sand takes less than a minute.
Six hotels sit along this stretch of beach, and their restaurants and bars are open to anyone. That gives you somewhere to eat within walking distance most nights of the week without leaving the neighbourhood.
The swimming here is safe and the water is flat enough for paddleboarding most days. We will be straight with you about one thing: the snorkelling in Nadi Bay is not great. The reef you want is out at the islands, and that is easy enough to reach — boats run to Mana Island and the rest of the Mamanucas, seaplanes leave from Nadi, and there are dive operators and kayak hire close by.
Most people who live here end up doing the same thing anyway: walking the beach at either end of the day and watching the sun go down over the bay. The sunsets are the reason half the photographs on this page exist.
The other direction is worth knowing about too. Within an easy drive there is hiking in the hills, the Sabeto mud pools and hot springs, and a zipline course through the rainforest. It is the kind of thing you do once as a visitor and then again whenever people come to stay.
